PAST-LIFE REGRESSION VISUALIZATION

I learned this visualization from my teacher in metaphysics in the early 1980s. The basic visualization, and a few embellishments that I have added, has worked so well for me and my clients over the years that recently a colleague asked me to write it up so that others, too, can benefit from it.

The past-life regression visualization is as follows:

Get in a meditative state, either by using the Color Meditation or some other meditation practice that you enjoy.

Next, visualize yourself seated in a meadow. It’s a perfect summer day, not too hot, not too cold. There’s not a cloud in the sky, and there’s a gentle breeze that blows. You’ve just finished a picnic lunch and you feel wonderful about yourself. Then, out of the corner of your eye, you see two butterflies at the edge of the meadow. You begin to watch them as they dance across the meadow. Soon enough their flight takes them quite close to you. You’re fascinated by them and marvel at their great beauty. A gentle wind begins to blow, and it changes the direction of their flight away from you. You want to follow them, so you get up and walk near them as they cross the meadow.

There at the edge of the meadow is a brook where the water runs clear and pure, so pure in fact that you can see little fish swimming around and stones beneath the water. And you feel wonderful about yourself.

You decide now to walk along the edge of the brook. And you feel wonderful about yourself. You’re walking and walking. Soon enough the brook turns a bend, and there in the distance is a beautiful footbridge, and you decide to walk toward it. And you’re walking and you’re walking. Soon enough you reach the edge of the footbridge, and you decide to cross it.

Now in the middle of the footbridge you become enveloped by a clear, cool mist that you can feel on your face and on your hands and arms beneath your clothing. And you find yourself changing and transforming. You know now that you can become young or old, a man or a woman. You can come from any continent, from any lifetime, but the one thing that you do know is that you are going back to the lifetime where you first became karmically blocked with regard to ____________.

And now you find yourself standing on the bank on the other side of the footbridge. Look at your feet. Tell me what you see.

Have the client describe what is on her feet and any other clothing she might be wearing. Then tell her to walk home. Once she gets there, have her stand in front of her home and describe what she sees. Have her walk inside and describe what she sees and any people she might find there. Then let the scene change and to “dinnertime” on that day. Have her describe who is there, what they are eating, and what conversation might be going on. Then let the scene change to “bedtime” on that day. Have her describe what she sees and what is going on then. Next let the scene change to the following morning, and have her describe what goes on at that time. Then have the client go off to work or do what ever engages her time during the day. Let her describe this (presumably normal) day to you.

Next change the scene by moving up a few years or back a few years until you find the place where the karmic blockage occurred. Sometimes the karmic blockage will have to do with the character and nature of an entire life rather than a specific moment. This, then, will require more time to view various passages in the life. Eventually the problem will emerge.

If the scene which contains the karmic blockage (or any scene) has the potential to be traumatic for the client, have her view it as if it were on a movie screen with her as an audience member. This, then, has the effect of greatly diminishing, and possibly entirely eliminating, any potential emotional trauma that could come from recovering a difficult memory.

I never have the client see her own death unless the juncture of death is involved in the karmic blockage. Generally speaking this is simply too traumatic for the client to view it, and if it is not absolutely necessary, it should be avoided. When it must be viewed, be sure to employ the “movie screen/audience member” technique described in the paragraph above.

Usually I take the client up to one year before her death in that lifetime. Next I tell her that it is one hour after her death, she is in heaven, and she is surrounded by her guides, and they are engaged in doing her life review. They are telling her what she learned and what she didn’t learn in that lifetime. In every lifetime some things are learned and some things are not learned. Occasionally a client will experience either only one or the other, but generally there is a mix of both.

Once these lessons have been established, then it may be time to end the exercise. Where it is feasible—that is, the client is not too exhausted and there is time left in the therapeutic hour—I prefer to have the client see the resolution of the karmic blockage in a new life.

The instructions are as follows:
Now, your soul in conjunction with your guides is going to choose a new life for you, one in which this karmic blockage is resolved. They are talking with each other, consulting, choosing. Now they have made their choice. You are changing and transforming. The following is said in rapid succession: You are now in your mother’s womb. Now you are one day old. Now you are 10 days old. Now you are 10 years old. Tell me what you see.

Let the client describe her new surroundings in a manner similar to the last time. Proceed through the life in roughly five-year increments to allow her to gain an understanding of the new life. Then take her to her life review in the same manner as before.

Occasionally, a blockage is not fully resolved even at this point. If the client is able and there is time, continue on to yet another life. If there is insufficient time or energy during this session, schedule another appointment and repeat the process until the blockage is resolved. Very, very occasionally I have seen this process take up to five lifetimes to resolve an issue. Generally an issue is resolved through seeing just one lifetime.
